TaskRabbit RoundUp: Earth Day Edition

Earth Day… a day to promote awareness and appreciation for our planet’s natural resources. Many celebrate the day by planting trees, adopting new green habits or by recommitting to recycling. Here are 3 ways to honor Earth Day in less than 5 minutes. Live green efficiently!

The Earth Day Network recognizes that there is power in numbers and is currently promoting their A Billion Acts of Green movement. The goal of this campaign is to gather 1 billion pledges from people who are committing to making a difference. If you’re adopting more green activities, spend a few seconds to share your idea or browse the community to see what others are doing. Every pledge counts!

Recycling paper or bottles is already something most people have experience doing, but other items like batteries, chemicals or metals are more complicated to recycle and often end up in landfills. Sites, like Earth911.com, have helped millions of Americans find recycling centers for even the most obscure items. Earth911 also made iRecycle, a free app for the iPhone and Android. Simply tell iRecycle what you want to recycle and it’ll find the nearest location that accepts that particular item.

Celebrating Earth Day is already very rewarding, but Starbucks is sweetening the deal. For today only, Starbucks is giving free brewed coffee and tea to anyone who brings in a reusable mug or tumbler. These reusable cups were responsible for keeping 1.45 million pounds of paper out of landfills in 2010 alone! Don’t have a mug or tumbler? They’re 20% off on Earth Day. J

Remember to share a pledge on A Billion Acts of Green, download iRecycle for your iPhone or Android phone and then let Starbucks treat you to a free coffee or tea. Sounds like a great way to celebrate Earth Day 2011!
