Big City, Tiny Task: Building an NYC Tiny House in 72 Hours

We believe that big changes can start with #ATinyTask. Follow along as we challenge a group of 10 Taskers to build a fully-outfitted, livable Tiny House in the middle of Manhattan in just 72 hours – all for a good cause. Why Build Tiny? This Tiny House serves a greater purpose — a symbol for community and rethinking how people live; empowering communities to work together to tackle complex challenges. Our Tiny House is up for auction at, where 100% of the proceeds will go to Community Solutions, a national nonprofit helping communities take on complex social challenges through collaboration and creative problem solving. Changing the Face of Diversity in Tech: Our CBC Tech 2020 African American Inclusion Plan

Diversity — of thought, of ethnicity, of gender, of sexual orientation — any way you define it, it’s an essential piece of shaping ideas that can impact the world in meaningful ways. In the world of technology, it’s common knowledge that we don’t have enough of it. Underrepresentation of minorities and women has run rampant within the tech industry for decades, and though companies have continued to discuss the issue, creating new roles to address disappointing hiring statistics, the problem still persists. At TaskRabbit, the importance of diversity and inclusion has been a part of our DNA since day one, with a workforce that’s 58% female, 11% African American, 5% Latino, 11% Asian, and 11% LGBTQ. Even so, we know there is so much more to do. We always have to ask ourselves what doing more truly looks like. How can we address these issues in a way that moves the needle and exposes our team, and the industry, to more of our best and brightest minds? Today, we’re proud to present our African American …

TaskRabbit Partners with the White House on Disaster Response & Recovery Efforts

Today, TaskRabbit visited the White House to unveil a new partnership as part of The White House Innovation For Disaster Response and Recovery Initiative Demo Day. TaskRabbit is partnering with federal and local officials to offer the services of the TaskRabbit community during times of disaster or emergencies. Today’s event brought together technologists, entrepreneurs and members of the disaster response community to showcase tools that will make a substantial impact during large-scale emergencies. TaskRabbit is excited to play a role in this important initiative. The new tool, The TaskRabbit Needs for First Responders Program, is a simple, mobile web product where authorized first responders can post a need for help during times of emergency and be connected to our community of 30,000 background-checked and fully vetted Taskers, who can then volunteer their services in real time. This tool is simply formalizing how neighbors are helping neighbors naturally in our community during times of emergency. During Hurricane Sandy in 2012, we saw our community in the Northeast come together to help one another; Our Taskers assisted with tree removal, taking pictures …
