Many health experts and entrepreneurs swear by a morning routine to unlock productivity. Rather than hitting snooze and then rushing out the door, try these few steps to set you up for greatness.

  1. Drink a glass of water to rehydrate after a night’s sleep.
  2. Take five to ten minutes to meditate, clearing your mind for the day ahead so you’re ready to take on any challenges with a calmer mindset.
  3. Take a few minutes to focus on your tasks for the day ahead. Prioritise your to-dos and walk yourself through what needs to get done.
  4. Then take 10 minutes to do some gentle exercise and stretches. Working out and moving is a huge part of success and helps you to feel energised to take on the day ahead.

Introducing a balanced diet will make the world of difference when it comes to productivity. Without the right amount of nutrients we’re left feeling sluggish, tired, stressed and unsatisfied. Try eating small meals every couple of hours rather than 3 large meals a day, and swap out sugary snacks with nuts, fruit or carrot sticks for a slower release of energy.

Studies show that we now spend a day a week checking our phone. Imagine what we could do if we had that time back? Short bursts of social media can be great for inspiration and motivation, but browsing Instagram can be a major distraction when you’re trying to get things done. Setting aside designated social media time can curb the urge to pick up your phone when your mind wanders and keep you on the path to productivity. If you need some accountability, try apps like Flipd, OffTime, or Self Control to impose time limits on your devices.
