SOME OF OUR FAVORITE TASKS FROM THE NEW TASKRABBIT

It’s officially been a week since we launched The New TaskRabbit. Everyone knows we’ve always been obsessed with the creative ways people use our service. But, with the new product, we weren’t sure if this quirkiness would continue. Well, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it definitely did.

It turns out a more automated model doesn’t stop people’s creative juices from flowing when it comes to task inspiration. Here are some of our favorite tasks from the past week:

Mail My Marriage Certificate From Seattle To Illinois

Deliver Two Pregnancy Tests to Me In NYC

Help Me Clean Up My Daughter’s Apartment After A Break-In

Delivery Preparation H To My Hotel Room

Help Me Plan My Post-Gym Date In Long Island City

Wait In Line For Us At The Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Prank Call My Friend

How creative can you get?

An open letter to the TaskRabbit community from our founder and CEO

To the TaskRabbit Community:

It’s been five days since we launched The New TaskRabbit in the US, and in that time, we’ve received both positive and negative feedback. We have listened and made every effort to respond to questions in a timely manner. I wanted to take the opportunity to directly address a few things.

The facts.

First, our Taskers and Clients are super passionate about what we are building. As a founder, this is pretty awesome to see. Second, you can’t communicate enough when it comes to big product changes (five emails, webinars, and a cross-country trip for in-person product demos just aren’t enough sometimes). Third, pleasing millions of users simultaneously is impossible. And finally, change is hard, period.

We hear you!

The majority of the feedback we’ve received has been positive and both Taskers and Clients are excited about the new product. We’re hearing that Clients are enjoying the new seamless posting flow – knowing who will complete their task, when it will get done and how much they’ll pay within minutes –  and that Taskers are able to stack their days with tasks like never before. In fact, a look at the data in general shows that the opportunity for work among our most active Taskers has increased by 400 percent. And specifically, as an example, one of our Elite Taskers in Boston was hired 19 times in one day.

As with any change, we’re also hearing there is some confusion. For example, some Clients are having difficulty finding Taskers who are available for tasks that must be completed at a specific day and time. On the flip side, we’re hearing some Taskers are confused about the matching algorithm, and are concerned that they won’t make the same amount of money with the new product.

We are acting quickly on your feedback.

TaskRabbit has always been a community-driven company and has built its product based on our users’ needs. In fact, the company name “TaskRabbit” was actually chosen by our community in 2009. Since the launch of The New TaskRabbit, we’ve been gathering each and every piece of feedback – good and bad – so we can continue to evolve the product to match your needs.

We have prioritized the most important pieces and you can expect to see a new scheduling filter so only Taskers who are available when Clients specifically need them are shown, and an improved, clearer experience for “rescued” tasks by the end of the week.

So, what happens next?

We continue to evolve the product together. We made a big change last week, but it was just the beginning. This change was necessary for TaskRabbit as our previous platform was not sufficiently matching the explosive demand growth we are experiencing.

In the first five days, we’ve already gathered enough feedback to make iterations on The New TaskRabbit to better meet our community’s needs. This is something we will continue to do in the coming days and weeks. It’s just a part of our DNA.

My vision is to revolutionize how work gets done on a global scale.  As with any huge vision, we won’t be able to achieve it overnight. But, I am committed to delivering on this vision to ensure we continue to have a positive impact on people’s lives.

We invite your feedback as we continue to enhance our product, allowing  you to live and work smarter.

THE NEW TASKRABBIT IS HERE WITH NEW iOS + ANDROID APPS FOR CLIENTS AND $1M INSURANCE POLICY ON EVERY TASK

Last month, we announced our plans to launch The New TaskRabbit, a brand new product experience designed to deliver a higher-quality, more secure and seamless tasking experience. The response to The New TaskRabbit has been overwhelmingly positive. Since our announcement in June, we’ve received over 16,000 Tasker applications and saw a 200% increase in Client sign ups.

Today, we couldn’t be happier to announce that The New TaskRabbit is live. And we have even more exciting news to share. We’re also launching brand new iOS and Android apps today, designed specifically for our Clients. These apps let our Clients find help with their home service needs – house cleaning, handyman tasks, moving help and personal assistance – while on the go. The apps allow Clients to find, hire and chat with Taskers quickly and easily.

iPhone users – update your TaskRabbit app (or download it) to see the new experience, and Android users – download our brand new app from the Play Store! The safety and security of our community is, and always has been, our main priority. That’s why we’ve spent months developing an industry-leading insurance policy. We are thrilled to announce that effective today, every task posted on the TaskRabbit platform is insured up to $1 million.

The New TaskRabbit was born out of months of research with our community. Both our Clients and Taskers asked for a more seamless and secure way to communicate – we built a proprietary messaging platform. Our Taskers asked for an easier way to manage their schedule – we built a new scheduling tool. We’ve simplified our product experience and kept the logistics of scheduling and communication all in one place – on the TaskRabbit platform. Our Clients also told us that they wanted to leave the site knowing who they will be working with, how much the task will cost and when the task will be complete. We developed a proprietary matching algorithm that immediately finds a perfect match, resulting in a more seamless customer experience.

So, to recap, here’s what’s new with The New TaskRabbit:

Brand new iOS and Android apps for our Clients

We’ve developed brand new iOS and Android apps for our Clients to find, hire and chat with Taskers quickly and easily that are available for download today.

The Perfect Match

We built a matching algorithm that automatically matches Clients with Taskers who have the right skills and availability for their tasks. The matching algorithm takes into account our Taskers’ past behavior on the site, their unique skills, and availability. We present the Client with a variety of suitable Tasker candidates – some tenured, some new – so the Client is able to make a selection on the grounds they see fit (e.g. experience, ratings/ reviews or price).

One-Click Hiring

Tasks are immediately assigned once a Client selects a Tasker they’d like to work with. Clients leave the site knowing who they will be working with, how much the task will cost and when the task will be complete.

One click hiring

Transparent Pricing

All tasks are priced by the hour, so Clients can select Taskers with their preferred rate. No more “pricing anxiety;” it’s easy to calculate how much a task will cost based on the anticipated time required.

Easy + Secure Communication

Clients will now be able to communicate directly with Taskers without sharing any personal information, using our new messaging platform. In addition to the apps for our Clients, we’ve also launched new iOS and Android apps – built exclusively for our Taskers – to let them communicate with their Clients on the go.

$1M Insurance Coverage on Every Task

Effective today, every task posted on TaskRabbit is insured up to $1 million (USD).

UNVEILING THE NEW TASKRABBIT

TaskRabbit is revolutionizing how work gets done. And we’ve already come a long way this year – since January, our task posting volume has grown by 50 percent. Last year, we acquired 1.25 million new users and are on track to double that in 2014. We now have over 25,000 people earning an income on our site, with 10 percent running tasks as a full-time job.

Today, we’re excited to unveil our plans to roll out a brand new product experience before the end of July that will make it easier than ever to live smarter by relying on TaskRabbit as your trusted source for home services.

This new experience is the result of our users’ feedback. Users on both sides of our marketplace wanted a higher quality, more seamless product experience. Some changes are small – for starters, we received some feedback on our brand terminology. So, once The New TaskRabbit is live, TaskRabbits will be called “Taskers” and TaskPosters will be called “Clients.”

Other changes are more significant and based on months of user research and testing with our Clients and Taskers. The New TaskRabbit will better meet the needs and requests of our community.

THE PERFECT MATCH
We’ve spent months building a matching algorithm that automatically matches Clients with Taskers who have the right skills and availability for their task. The matching algorithm takes into account our Tasker’s past behavior on the site, the skill preferences they set in their profile, and their availability and schedule. We present the Client with a variety of suitable Tasker candidates – some tenured, some new – so the Client is able to make their selection on the grounds they see fit (e.g. experience, ratings/ reviews or price).

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

In short, for our Clients and Taskers. They spoke, we listened.

We developed a matching algorithm that immediately finds a perfect match, resulting in an improved customer experience.

SO, WHAT’S NEXT?

The new TaskRabbit will go live before the end of July. For now, just sit back, relax, and keep relying on TaskRabbit to live smarter as you normally do.

task of the week: bring my forgotten laptop to JFK

Image

Let’s say you’re going on a trip. Your bags are packed and you’re in the cab on the way to the airport. After scrambling to leave for the airport in time, you take a moment to relax your mind before takeoff. Then all of a sudden the relaxation turns to terror and dread. You didn’t! You couldn’t have! You forgot your [insert something essential for the trip your taking] at home! What on Earth can you do? You’re already on the way to the airport and if you turn around and go back, you’ll surely miss the flight.

Y’all know we have an app, right? TaskPoster Jakub S sure did. Jakub was on his way to JFK when it dawned on him that he had left his laptop at his apartment. Already halfway to the airport and two hours before his flight, Jakub’s first thought was, of course, TaskRabbit. He pulled his iPhone out and posted a task to have someone run to his apartment, grab his laptop and meet him at JFK right outside security. New York Veteran TaskRabbit Jeff K picked up the task and saved the day! Here’s a #selfie of Jakub and Jeff after the successful delivery:

How can we save your week?

task of the week: help me move

There’s a good chance that someone you know is moving since May is National Moving Month. Here at TaskRabbit, we’ve seen a spike in moving-related tasks, so we thought what better time to honor a moving task as our Task of the Week?

TaskPoster Kathleen M. needed help moving, but after everything was already unloaded in her house. She wanted to change up the positioning of her furniture. Obviously, Kathleen is a strong woman, but she needed some extra muscles to help with shifting her sofa, moving two short file cabinets, a TV and two bookcases. She also needed some help reconnecting her stereo.

Like many of us, she quickly turned to TaskRabbit. TaskRabbit Jesse S. came to the rescue, and according to Kathleen he was, “strong, prompt and willing.”

Do you or someone you know need help moving this month? We can also help pack, move, unpack, and recycle your empty boxes.

TaskRabbit launches iPhone and Android apps in London to make outsourcing even easier

TaskRabbit Logo for Marlin 2

Today, we’re thrilled to unveil two new apps for UK customers to post tasks on the go. Available on both iOS and Android, the new TaskRabbit apps let Clients hire vetted and approved Taskers in a couple of clicks, directly from their mobile device.

The app has been designed so users can browse tasks effortlessly. Tasks are conveniently organized into categories, such as cleaning, DIY, event help, gardening and assistance. For those looking for a little task inspiration, the app also highlights “trending’ tasks, letting users scope out the most popular outsourcing options in their neighborhood. Once a task has been selected, the Client can browse through skilled Taskers who are nearby and available to do the task.

Focused on delivering a streamlined and efficient way to outsource tasks, the app allows hired Taskers and Clients to communicate in real time via live chat, as well as provide push notifications to keep the user updated on the status of the task at hand.

TaskRabbit launched in the UK last November and has Taskers covering the breadth of London. From assembling flat-pack furniture to getting a last-minute, deep clean of the house, TaskRabbit connects people with little time with those who have the skills and expertise to complete the task at hand.

“Our aim is to provide a mobile experience that delivers the same quality as TaskRabbit.co.uk, coupled with the simplicity and flexibility that an app offers,” said our Founder and CEO, Leah Busque. “It’s perfect for busy parents and professionals who need valuable minutes back in their day. Wherever you are, a task can be set up within moments, meaning one less chore on your to-do list,” she said.

Download our London iOS app here and Android app here.

Task of the week: Be my april fools’ day prank accomplice

April Fools’ Day is one of our favorite days of the year. We are always amazed at how creative our TaskPosters get in utilizing our service to pull off fun pranks. We’ve seen people hire TaskRabbits to cover their coworker’s office in Saran wrap, dress up as a dinosaur to scare a classroom full of kids and even place a fake eviction notice on an apartment door!

This year, our favorite thus far comes from TaskPoster Ali L. Ali’s boyfriend is a big golf fan, so, naturally, she wanted to prank him into believing he had become a golf super star overnight. She hired TaskRabbit Mike T. to hide outside her boyfriend’s apartment building and as he left for work, run up to him and interrupt him on the street, excitedly claiming he saw a video of him on ESPN the night before. “You’re famous,” Mike proclaimed! To make things seem even more legit, Mike begged to take a picture with Ali’s boyfriend. Great prank? We think so!

How creative can you get this week?

Task of the week: Perform My Marriage

Image

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: planning a wedding is extremely stressful. There are so many details to fine tune that even the smallest job can seem overwhelming. The bigger jobs, like picking a licensed wedding officiant, can seem nearly impossible. That’s what we’re here for.

NYC TaskPoster Steve S. needed an officiant for his wedding. He wasn’t picky, he just wanted the person to be licensed to officiate weddings in New York and have a good public speaking voice. Lucky for him, former farm boy turned New York performer, TaskRabbit Martin T had the license and experience.

Martin didn’t just earn some money doing something he’s good at, he got to play a part in what is surely the most memorable day in Steve and his partner’s lives to date. Pretty cool, huh?

What can we help you with this week?
